Tsurugata, a culinary inn located in the center of Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, is housed in a merchant's house built during the era of Tokugawa Yoshimune, the eighth Shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate (1744).
It is the oldest historic building in Kurashiki, and retains the stately two-story zushi structure of a machiya townhouse Middle of the Edo Period.
